Day trader 001: Switzerland

ATDEC AWMS-6-13717 HEX MOUNT ON SINGLE POST FOR SIX MONITORS

A classic bank of six displays with supplementary tablet. The tablet is running Interactive Brokers for when our Swiss day trader is on the go. These 24” monitors remain the most popularly sold monitor today and are highly represented in the day trader world - they are competitively priced, and many traders prefer the simplicity of arranging feeds by monitor. We have a preconfigured solution for precisely this setup for that reason, AWMS-6-13717 hex mount. The hex mount can be reconfigured with sliders to accomodate a future display upgrade. Credit.

Day trader 002: Chicago

Atdec Modular for custom monitor arm solutions in any configuration

This setup also uses the workhorse 24” monitor to good effect, this time with a 2x2 cockpit flanked by portraits. Portrait oriented displays are primarily used for news feeds and message chat feeds like Slack, Discord, or Teams. Note the downward angle of the top middle displays, which improves the focal distance of the displays to the trader. Cockpits are also used for immersion. Atdec mounts have toolless tilt adjustment available, moving with smooth fingertip pressure. Note the solution uses two posts, which enables use of larger monitors than this day trader has.

Day trader 003: Manhattan

ATDEC WALL MOUNTS FOR MONITORS AND DISPLAYS OF ALL SIZES

Space is at a premium in Manhattan so it makes sense that's where we found a day trader using low profile wall mounts for their monitors. These monitors appear to be in the small 14" to 19" size category, giving wide opportunity for wall mount bracket selection. This day trader's wall mounting and tilt can be emulated with our swivel wall mount AF-WD-P, which has capacity well in excess of what these small monitors would weigh. This picture was selected to demonstrate the elegant space saving that can be achieved with wall-mounting, and as a reminder that sometimes wall mounts are the best choice, even for desks. Credit.

ATDEC AWMS-2-BT75=FS FREESTANDING MOUNT FOR LARGE HEAVY MONITORS

This day trader has used freestanding desk mounts rather than fixing monitor arms to the desk. Reasons to use freestanding monitor arms include very thick desks (the thickest desk our fixings accomodate is 79mm or 3", using AWM-FF), desks with large bevel, ornate and antique desks you don't want to potentially marr, glass desks, and mobility. Albeit 'mobility' is difficult to square with the 49" monitors used by this trader!

Freestanding Atdec mounts are available for monitor configurations with up to four screens, including landscape and portrait orientations. The Atdec mount pictured is AWMS-2-BT75-FS, a freestanding mount that takes monitors up to two stacked R1000 49” ultrawide monitors. For those not in the know, deep curvature coupled with large size makes these monitors -- typically gaming monitors -- more challenging to mount. This is why Atdec publishes monitor arm weight capacity separately for flat and curved monitors, as well as maximum monitor depth

The featured product uses the super high capacity mounting bracket AWM-BT, that was developed specially for the 49" Samsung G9 with R1000 curvature. Versions fixed to the desk hold dual stacked 57" G9 gaming monitors too!  Credit.

ATDEC AWMS-2-LTH75-HEAVY DUTY DUAL MONITOR MOUNT FOR 49-INCH MONITORS

The central cockpit of this setup is an ultrawide 49" monitor with flat 32" monitor above. We always recommend assymetric monitors have the larger one mounted in the lower position. The lower monitor in this setup is a 49” super ultrawide productivity monitor (rather than gaming monitor) with aspect ratio 32:9 and R1800 curvature radius.

Curved monitors place a larger load on monitor arms than flat monitors, as discussed in 004: Illinois above. While individual monitor specifications should be verified before purchase, 49" productivity monitors with curvature R1800 or wider are usually suitable for mounting on heavy duty monitor arms (as opposed to super heavy duty monitor arms). That was so in this instance, with the popular AWMS-2-LTH75 heavy duty dual mount recommended.

The trader with this setup explained that they clamp mount to the desk (no drilling), narrowing specification to AWMS-2-LTH75 with heavy duty F-clamp fixing. Each monitor has independent movement, tilting -30° to +35° and with 360° pan limited only by monitor size and post. These smooth fingertip adjustments enable cockpit creation as demonstrated. Please bear in mind that tilting curved monitors unavoidably creates a gap or an overlap of the display enclosures. Credit.

ATDEC AWMS-2-LTH75 HEAVY DUTY DUAL STACKED MOUNT

We had to include this dual stacked 49” monitor day trader setup, it’s a beautifully composed image in NYC’s pre-dawn. This trader uses the same mount featured above, AWMS-2-LTH75 heavy duty dual stacked monitor mount, for these two 49" productivity monitors. Although AWMS-2-LTH75 has a wide tilt range, most users with two stacked ultrawide monitors avoid cockpit tilting to achieve the clean lines demonstrated in this image. Credit.

Trader 007: UK trader by day, gamer by night

ATDEC WALL MOUNTS INCLUDING FULL MOTION FUNCTION

Day trader 007 is appropriately based in the UK. Another Samsung ultrawide display, the CHG90 49” 144hz model. What sets this desk apart is the trader’s canny use of wall mounting, particularly effective given his preferred gaming genre. Trader 003 above, in a tight NYC apartment, used low profile swivel wall mounts for their compact setup. Trader 007, whose desk is also pushed to the wall, has instead used a full motion wall mount with an arm that extends 506mm or 20”, that easily converts his sensible daytime setup to a racing sim! Where suitable for your office setup, wall mounts can be a versatile and potentially more cost-effective solution. Key message is to bear them in mind.

Atdec offers a variety of full motion wall mounts with single and dual arm construction. Atdec’s (currently) largest full motion wall mount extends 980mm or 39” from the wall for extreme freedom of movement. Credit.

ATDEC AWMS-4-4675 QUAD MOUNT FOR FOUR MONITORS

Trader 008 is a fan of vertical or portrait-oriented displays for their data feeds, topped with landscape-oriented displays for time/performance graphs and conventional news. This trader focuses on gas trading, and needs optimal visibility to stay ahead of the volatility. The preconfigured Atdec solution pictured has landscape displays however each head can be rotated 90°, without removing the display. Each arm can be vertically repositioned on the post to accommodate your ideal combination of landscape and portrait monitors.

ATDEC AWMS-2-ND13 for an external monitor and laptop

Including this to inspire the mobile traders out there – when you need your laptop on the go, and a more ergonomic solution once back in the office. This is a solution render produced for a distributed trader network in Germany. They were using German analytics platform Guidants, as well as MetaTrader 4 and software for IG Markets, all of which have dense data. They routinely meet up for collaboration days and required a solution to balance in-office (home office) and mobile work, approaching us for our experience with trading desks and ergonomics for an incremental edge. The original images we received showed two monitors on low foot, laptop on the desk, external keyboard at the same height as the displays – as unergonomic as it gets! You imagine the traders hunched over the screens cultivating a solid neck ache and long term back issues, as well as perpetual eye strain headaches. On top of those short- and long-term physical consequences, they had limited visibility of core screen stock movements.

The Atdec mount pictured right holds a single display and laptop. Some of these traders used two monitors plus laptop, which was accomodated with a crossbar upgrade to hold two displays together on the left arm, or an additional independent dynamic arm for the second monitor. Atdec Modular solutions can be upgraded to keep pace with your changing needs, 100% futureproof.
